The time has come again to start thinking about Sigma Kappa's philanthropy, The Alzheimer's Association. In September 2019, I will participate in my 4th Walk to End Alzheimer's as a senior. This special organization, the endless support for this philanthropy, and the girls who have been a part of my college experience since 2016 have had such a big impact on me. This will be my last year to take part in such an amazing event with an organization that pushes to fund the research for a cause, support, and care for individuals and families who have been affected. It is so hard to believe that every 65 seconds, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer's disease.
As of today, more than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and 16 million people are serving as caregivers. Additionally, nearly 13 million WOMEN are living with Alzheimer's or taking care of someone who has it. Another scary, mind-blowing fact, it would take 43 football stadiums to make a seat for every woman who has Alzheimer’s in the United States alone.
Please feel free to share this post and/or help me reach my fundraising goal for this important cause. Every little action is one step closer to a cure.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
