This journey started in 2012, when both of my maternal grandparents were diagnosed with dementia. None of us really knew the gravity of those diagnoses at the time, but over the course of the next several years we would come to realize the physical and emotional challenges and distresses that would ensue. Our beloved Grammy and Grandpa have since passed, but those years of struggle and experience led us to the Alzheimer's Association.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia, and it kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. The Alzheimer’s Association works to enhance care and support for ALL those affected – those diagnosed as well as their caregivers. The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the organization’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for this cause. My family and I are proud to regularly participate in this inspiring event.
To get involved, please click on the ‘DONATE’ and/or ‘JOIN MY TEAM’ icons.
Any amount is greatly appreciated, and all contributions made to this not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization are tax deductible. For those eager to walk, I will communicate logistics of the morning’s events separately.
Though we all have our own motivation to step up to the start line, our eyes are set on the ultimate finish line: the end of Alzheimer's and related dementias. Please join and support us for this very special event!
