My story - For my Nana..
Family and Friends- On Sunday, October 13 I along with some other family members will be walking in honor of my Nana, Joan Boulton
Our Nana used to be a very outgoing and independent woman her whole life. A loving and caring wife, retired as a Bank Manager at PNC in Cheswick. After that she spent many years along side my Pap supporting his years of coaching for Springdale football whether it was at every Friday night football game cheering on, outtings with their Dynamo Football Crew, or cooking dinner on Wednesday nights for the football players while they reviewed tapes in their basement from the previous week. She has always been a very unselfish person with a huge heart.
She was diagnosed with Alzheimers in late 2015 and with each passing year, her memory and motor skills fade way too quickly. She is now a resident at Harmer Village Care Center, and my Pap is there to sit and visit with her every single day. I have done a lot of reading and research on this disease, but watching Nana lose more and more of herself is heartbreaking for all of us who Love her, as well as herself. To see the frustration she sometimes feels in herself when she can't find a word that's right on her tongue, or when she stares at you in a complete blank while you are talking to her, it is devastating to see in that front row seat.
I pray one day this Evil disease can be if not stopped, then controlled at a much slower pace then it advances to.
