This is my 4th Walk to End Alzheimer's and every year just used to use the basic story with facts and numbers. This year however, my reason to walk changed. I don't just walk to honor all those suffering from Alzheimer's. This year I am walking for my grandma. My grandma was diagnosed with dementia late last year and now what was once a great cause in general became a personal cause. I walk for my grandma this year, I walk for the person who let me enjoy endless sleepovers, girl days, and cooking at her house when I was little, I walk for the person who would take us to Dairy Queen and get a small chocolate dipped vanilla ice cream cone without fail every time. I walk for the person who cheered for me even when not knowing exactly what she cheered for. I walk for my grandma because this is an awful disease that is taking the memories I hold close to me from my grandma and no other grandchild should go through this, so I walk for a cure to Alzheimer's.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
