This is my second year to be involved in the walk, but my relationship with this disease goes back much further. My grandpa was diagnosed with Alzheimer's when I was in high school, but my family and I believe he had been suffering for awhile before that. I knew it was severe when I walked down the stairs for my senior prom (legit how it is in movies) and he looked to my grandma and asked, "who is the pretty girl in the red dress?" Good thing my makeup artist was still there because I cried the majority of my makeup off! It's sad, but this disease took my grandpa away from me long before he passed.
My why goes much deeper than that, but I can promise you all that I will keep fighting until we have our first survivor! This walk is SO important on raising awareness about the disease and raising funds to go toward research. I do hope you will join all of us at this year's walk! Memories matter!
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
