Hi Family and Friends,

First let me lead off by saying, quite simply, thank you!  Thank you for your love, thank you for your support, thank you for your patience, thank you for your compassion, thank you for your hugs, thank you for your prayers, thank you for everything you have done and continue to do in order to keep us standing and fighting.

I can speak for my entire family when I say that we HATE this disease and we HATE what it's taken from us. But, we LOVE all of you and we LOVE that we have been able to and will continue to be able to rely on you all for your support as we navigate our way through whatever is to come.  Every single thought, prayer, hug, card, smile, visitor, word of support and encouragement is appreciated and does not go unnoticed. NO ONE can survive this without people like you.

It physically pains me to write what I'm about to write, but I'm writing it because I don't want another family to have to ever have to write this in the future.

We Lost.

And we need your help.  And we NEED to find a cure for this.

It was a very long and very difficult 9 years.  It's been 9 years full of highs and lows and very lows.  And 9 years of challenges and tears.  But what stands out to me the most it that it's been 9 years of unconditional love and support and encouragement from those that we know and love and those who know and love my dad.  There's very rarely a day that goes by that I don't get approached by friends and strangers alike just to say "I knew your dad"  followed most of the time by, "he's such a wonderful man" or a memory or a story of how cool of a human being he is.  I've learned so much about my dad through this process and the consensus seems to be that he has a twisted sense of humor and he's usually the life of the party.  Each person he's encountered has a story to share about him and I can not even put in to words the amount of pride I feel in knowing that this man is MY dad and I have been granted the privilege to be his daughter even if only for a shorter amount of time than either of us had planned.

My dad has spent his entire life taking care of people.  His sole purpose in life is to help, to heal, to support.  That applied to his career and his personal life.  I know if he could speak to each of you directly, he'd say, most importantly thank you so much for taking care of his family throughout this journey.  I know it gives him some peace knowing that we're surrounded by all of you.  Together, nothing will break us.

Thank you all again, for everything, it humbles me on a daily basis. Remember to hug the ones you love!

xo,

Kristen
