My mom was diagnosed about 6-7 years ago. As her primary care giver I had to make the hardest decision of my life. When to put her into a nursing home. I felt no one can take care of my mom like I did. Unfortunately it just became too much for me to handle. I visit her daily, even with my daily visits I can see how much she has declined. The bright smile has left her face, she now does the blank stare. It by far is one of the saddest things I have to deal with to date. I knew me and my family needed to be involved and try to make a difference. Four years ago one of my daughters said lets walk to honor Nani (that is what they call her). I walked with my husband, children, son-in-law and grand daughter in NYC for my mom, their mother in law, grand mother & great grandmother. We will be walking for our third year in Suffolk county for her & others we know personally effected by this horrible disease. I know this disease effects many of us, we need to join together to make a difference. If you can donate towards the cause I would appreciate it, no amount is too small. OR come and walk with us the more the merrier. Thank you & God Bless
Did you know currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
