First, let me thank you for visiting Team Ruthie's L.T.P (Levittown Posse) Fight to cure Alzheimer's page. My Dad, Steve, is a huge fan of the hit TV Show the Goldberg's and they often refer to themselves as J.T.P. (Jenkintown Posse) so we felt it fitting to latch onto the heels of this very popular local TV show and hopefully catch some of that success. :)
My Mom started showing signs of Alzheimer's a few years ago but it wasn't until she fell in October of 2018 did the disease really show it's ugly head. She dislocated her hip and had to go under anesthesia to reconnect the bone and after coming out of it, the loss of her abilities, especially the ability to communicate became very apparent. However, she does know exactly what's going on around her at this time! She will completely surprise you and remember exactly who you are even if you haven't seen her in quite some time! It's really incredible, but then again, it's Ruthie and we all know how smart she is. :) We have had our fair share of sad days but the day she no longers remembers our name or who we are will be the saddest of them all and in some respects even sadder than the day she goes to heaven. Not to be sorrowful but this is the reality of this disease and is exactly why my Dad and our family are so passionate about raising money to find a cure for this disease! A disease that could affect any one of us and unfortunately has already done so in one way or another. So won't you please support us by donating what you can, we'll take anything because if everyone gave $anything$ that would add up to a lot! Not to mention, if you give what you can no matter how big or small we know it came from your heart to my Mom, to us, to your loved one who is suffering or who did suffer from this heinous disease.
Let's be a part of the effort to find a cure and eliminate the suffering we are going through for those in the future.
With much love,
Ruthie's Posse (AKA the Russell Family)
