Why I walk:
I am fortunate enough to not have had a close personal connection to this horrific disease before becoming a member of Sigma Kappa, however in spending time with countless patients at local memory care centers and hearing my friends and sisters share stories of the heartache it has brought to their lives, how could it not be personal anymore? Over the years, this event has always been a highlight of my fall semester because of the incredible sense of pride that comes with being part of an organization that does so much to help find a cure. There is no better way to spend a Saturday morning than by walking with my best friends, meeting local families who go to incredible lengths to raise funds, and celebrating the fact that while Alzheimer's is persistent, together we are stronger, and one day will find a cure.
This year, I am hoping to reach my goal of raising $350 in the fight against Alzheimer's, all of which will go toward my sorority's goal of raising $30,000- an amount of which we have far exceeded multiple times in the past, leading us to be nationally recognized for our efforts!
I have faith that the efforts put forth by Sigma Kappa chapters all over the country will be a driving force in finding a cure one day, and I would love some help from my Facebook friends in making that a reality. There is no amount too big or too small-together we will help fund the necessary research to find a cure!
