This cause is extremely personal to me and my family - my dear mother was diagnosed over 6 years ago. The disease has progressed so far that she no longer lives with my Father, seldom speaks, and needs help with almost every aspect of her life. We believe she still knows us as her family members even though she can not tell us so. My father faithfully visits her 4 times a week at her home at Diamond Willow. I have been fortunate to visit her once a week this summer, although it has been an adjustment not having her with us at the cabin any more. Mom's sweet disposition is prevailing throughout her journey and for that we are thankful.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
