This is my 21st year as a Team Captain for The Walk to End Alzheimer's. My mission began when my Mom, my best friend was diagnosed with the dreaded disease. I remember, in the beginning, my Mom would say, why can't I remember your phone number, why do you have to balance my checkbook etc. It was a blessing when she could no longer remember she couldn't remember those things. My Mom sewed, baked, cooked, did crafts and slowly all of her talents were taken away. I was fortunate to have cared for my Mom for over 3 years. The last year before she went to Heaven my Mom was a resident of Sunrise Assisted Living. For the past 17 years, I have been the Activity and Volunteer Cooridnator at Sunrise of Troy. This will be my 17th year as Team Captain at Sunrise and I would like to invite you to walk and raise money with me. To help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, we will be committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
