In 2014/2015 my mother, Carol, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease. My mom is 62 years old and living in the late stages of this horrific disease. She lives at home with my dad, Dwight, who, at age 63 has become her primary caregiver. My brother Chris and his wife Rachael and my family (my husband Andy and our 3 kids) live close by and we do what we can to help and support Mom and Dad.
My mother was always a huge advocate of the local breast cancer walk in Damariscotta. She is a 22 year survivor living with stage 4 breast cancer. When a friend of our family, team captain JoAnn, asked me to be a participant in the Alzheimer's walk, I didn't hesitate to say yes. This would be something Mom would do if she were able to do it. What an honor it will be to hopefully follow in her footsteps and raise money and awareness for other people. Our team goal is to raise $2,000. My secret goal is to crush that!
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
