Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. So are we.
Michael's father had Pick's Disease. Turns out, that was the name for Frontotemporal Dementia back in the 70s and before. Michael had the behavioral variant of FTD. He withdrew at first in social settings. We thought it might be hearing loss. But eventually we knew something more was going on. The worst part is how long it takes to get an accurate diagnosis. The other worst part is there is no treatment. The drugs that exist, although only effective for a few months, are for Alzheimer's disease. But any research done that is dementia related helps. That's why we're doing this walk. Your donation is important!
There is one more thing you can do and it doesn't cost anything. Please consider adding your data to the FTD Registry. You can read about the registry here: https://ftdregistry.org.
Thank you for your support! We walk for Michael and for all of us.
