I'm Jake, and I am walking in honor of Sarah, my 'sister-in-love'. Using the example of the glass is half full vs. half empty, Sarah's glass is no longer half full. In the beginning of February 2019, Sarah's hip broke, and she had a partial hip replacement. Although the surgery was successful, Sarah could not follow the instructions for her rehabilitation and she is no longer able to stand or walk unassisted. She is now in a long term bed in a nursing home where she is in a wheel chair during the day. Sarah is getting good care and appears to be comfortable.
Sarah eats all of the food she is given on her tray, but she now needs some help with the eating. We see no indication that she is reading although she does look at posters on the wall. We gave her a pop up card that was mailed to her, and she looked at it, felt it and tore off some of the pieces. Sarah still has expression on her face, but we can't always hear what she is saying nor can we understand all the words she says.
This has been a sad turn of events, but Emma and I do our best to see Sarah 6 days a week and help her with her lunch..
