I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
This is very near and dear to my heart, for several reasons. I have friends and family that have gone thru this or have been effected by this in some way. I also am a caregiver to these lovely people. I use to work at Sunrise and I worked in the Remeniscense unit. All those residents and their families touched my heart. They have given me so much, I hope they feel the same way. I now do in home care part time time and I have such a bond with her. It's a sad horrible disease and it's very hard on the patient, and families, etc. So I hope to raise money for this great cause. So,I walk in honor of Joyce Owens, Mrs. Etchinson and Sunrise residents and anyone who has this disease or is affected by it.
