THIS IS WHY WE WALK!!!!

I DO NOT WANT THIS DISEASE!!! I am sure both of my kids will take care of me in my old age, heck they will probably even fight for the opportunity to be the one that I get to live with...this is my story, so go with it! :) With that being said, I DON'T want them to have to feed me, dress me and bath me, all while watching me forget both of them!

I am inspired to walk so that I can be a part of raising awareness and much needed funds to help research and end this devastating disease.

I am walking for my mom! Alzheimer's may be taking her memories, but it has not yet taken mine. My mother has been a huge part of the most memorable times in my life, and she has touched so many other's lives as well. I thank each and every one of you who reached out and supported our efforts last year.  I hope you can do the same this year, but will still love you no matter what!!!!

It is so alarming to me that currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.

Only His Memory Holds This Undying Love

By Isabella Robinson

She doesn’t remember him,

But he still loves her deep within.

While he would walk miles a road to find her,

She would walk miles unknowing.

He loves her too much to let her go,

But he can’t keep catching everything she throws.

He watches daily as she slowly dies,

He knows he can’t help her and yes, he cries.

She will yell, cry, and hit without meaning,

Yet he will just try to help her keep on healing.

Sometimes when he is alone he gets sad,

Since he knows what once was something, is now something he had.

He can’t let her out of his sight,

For he is terrified he will lose the fight.

He stays up late with tears in his eyes,

Remembering their good days and good times.

His light blue, wrinkly eyes,

Watches his one and only lose grasp of the world that lies.

She is trapped inside an endless, terrifying and merciless maze,

But he is the only one that keeps her from losing her way.

Dedicated to my Grandfather

and Grandmother, Duffy and Sandra Heyer.

My Grandfather selflessly loves and cares

for my grandmother who suffers from

Alzheimer's.

Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you. Please join us for our 4th year of walking to find a cure!
