My family and I are supporting The Walk to End Alzheimer’s for my Grandma Mary. We would love your help and support for this cause as well!
As most of you know, this is my senior year at K-State and my final year of being a collegiate member of Sigma Kappa. My freshman year, I immediately knew I had found my home away from home in Sigma Kappa. They shared with me the incredible work they do to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s. In the past three years, I have had the heartwarming opportunity to turn such a negative experience of losing my grandma, before actually losing her, into such a positive memory through the fun things I get to be a part of to raise money and awareness for this disease. One day, I hope to proudly say that I with all of you had a part in finding a cure for Alzheimer’s and no family will have to suffer through the pain again. It is so important that we help to find a cure for this disease because if we don’t take action the percentage of those affected by it will only continue to rise. The amount of deaths from Alzheimer’s has increased 89% since 2000, and did you know that every 66 seconds someone develops the disease? It is the 6th leading cause of death, and it is the only one in the top ten without a cure or some sort of way to slow it down. 5 million Americans are living with this disease and the numbers are only going up. I am so proud to say that Sigma Kappas throughout the nation have raised almost 6 million since 1984 for Alzheimer’s research and 1.5 million of that has been raised through the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. So, I am personally asking for your help to increase this number even more by donating towards my goal of $3,000. I know that I am going to be able to reach this goal with your help because you have all shown so much support to me in the past. My freshman year my goal was $100 and you guys blew me away by helping me reach $1000! Each year I have raised this goal by $500 and each year you have helped me to exceed my goal. Let’s once again go above and beyond this goal! Every donation counts and I am so thankful to each and every one of you that contributes.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please donate to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
