The hardest night of my life was sitting with my Grandfather (Clyde) as he wept next to my Grandmother (Mildred) the night she passed away. He was always my inspiration in many things but especially in the love he had for Mildred. In those last years they went through a lot, as all with Alzheimer’s or loved ones with Alzheimer’s do. He stayed strong and fought hard to look after Grandma. He passed not long after she did. Later the horrible disease also took their son, my uncle Steve. Their experience inspired be to switch careers and dedicate my life to working with our elderly population.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
