Being a nurse for 35 years, it's always difficult to see the course of Alzheimer's deterioration happen to my patients.
Watching this happen to my husband's grandmother is even more difficult. Over the last 8 years her memory has been receding to events of the older days, and in the process starting to forget her family. Children, grandchildren and now her 2 great grandchildren are feeling the loss of her memory. It is horribly unfair to all involved and I'm participating in this walk to stop this tide and hopefully reverse it for the future generations of all families.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
