It's hard for me to believe that it has been over 25 years of Walks for me! I must admit I didn't do much the first couple of years - I was simply overwhelmed and a little bit of denial when Dad was first diagnosed in 1992. I just showed up with enough donations to get my tshirt and left because I couldn't believe it or grasp the concept of my dad being sick. But since then I have been lucky enough to have found friends and family that helped me through it all. I have learned so much and unfortunately know that help is still needed. So again this year I am hoping to share my experiences and knowledge - for what it's worth - and help raise funds and awareness for our local Alzheimer's Association!
I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the 2019 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here
The Ames Walk to End Alzheimer's is Saturday October 12th at Ames Middle School. You can contribute online or send a check to me at 3822 Eisenhower Ave. Ames, Iowa 50010. I thank you all for your continued support of this cause that is still so dear to my heart after all these years since Dad was first diagnosed. Bless you all!
