Walking Readers was organized as a charitable outreach of our neighborhood bookclub. The hostess of the month chooses a charity that she would like to support.
Michele Parker selected the WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S to honor her amazing dad, OJ, who recently lost his battle with Alzheimer’s. This year in his memory Michele is the captain of our team. OJ was our dear kind neighbor and we saw the early signs of this dreadful disease change this vibrant, intelligent, super helpful, fun, sweet man. We also discovered that this disease had personally impacted other members of our group. In addition to walking in memory of OJ Parker, we realize that so many other of our neighbors and family have been impacted by this disease. Michele chose to keep the team this year even if she was the only member and then OJ passed and she asked for donations in his memory.
