Four and a half years ago my Dad was Diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Just recently we learned he has Lewy Body Dementia. This disease is similar to Alzheimer's and a form of Dementia. It has been a challenging 4 years for my family however has brought us so close together.
As a family we grew up skiing. Starting at the age of 2 skiing quickly became my favorite sport. My dad and mom spent every weekend and many week nights driving me to the slopes. The memories I have over 29 years of skiing will always be thanks to my dad for teaching my Mom, sister and I his love for this sport. My dad unfortunately has wrapped up his last year of skiing after 55 years.
Living 5000 miles away from my family I often feel I wish there was more I could do. I am lucky to be surrounded by an amazing support group of friends that have helped me over the years and will walk next to me on this day. I am walking for my Dad and all other families affected by ALZ and Lewy Body.
