According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common form of dementia, and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of dementia cases and is not, in fact, considered a normal part of aging. It currently affects millions, including over 200,000 people under the age of 65 years old. The Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay has always been a strong advocate in finding a cure and participates yearly in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association for over a decade now. Last year, we combined forces once again with an even more passionate voice. Former Mayor of South Pasadena, Dick Holmes, has spent his life serving the community, and he isn’t stopping just yet. Mr. Holmes has been a major catalyst this year in our communities fundraising efforts, and has worked tirelessly to plan events such as the 2nd Annual Green Bench Stroll and the 2nd Annual Green Bench Charity Ball, combining his two current passions for a greater good. We are excited for the 3rd annual in 2019!

With his passion pushing our team, our community came together and raised $3,577 as of the day of the walk on October 13th, 2018 and we could not be prouder! Not only of our community, their valiant and taking home a few “Grand Champions” medals, but of Dick Holmes for rallying the troops and being such a centrifugal force and is already working on ways to make next years Alzheimer’s and Green Bench fundraisers and events even better! On top of the events co-hosted with Mr. Holmes, the Alzheimer’s Association and Palms of Pasadena Hospital, The Fountains also hosted a carwash, movie night, bake sale and a few other great events that were made successful by none other than the best residents in the county! This year is no different, join us for these events and more as we aspire to beat our goal last year and raise $4,000 for those we love that has lost their lives and are still suffering from this traumatic disease at our community, in our families and all over the world.
