First, let me say thank you from the bottom of my heart. As many of you know my Mom was diagnosed with Dementia about 6 years ago. This journey has had many"plateaus", as we like to call them. First she would forget where her purse was and then we had to move her from her home of over 20 years. Calls from Police Officers stating Mom was entering people's homes that weren't hers. Then came the call that she was lost somewhere"near the big tree" and we had to try and locate her in Kissimmee. Finally getting her approved to join her new home at Golden Pond Communities. She has lost everything from her voice to the ability to walk, but those blue eyes still shine so bright! The emotional journey, time, money and tears are nothing compared to what I know she has gone through.
Mom is a woman who was always on point! She didn't let anything slip thru the cracks and worked harder than anyone I've ever met. 5:30am wake up and usually home by 6pm at night, to then cook dinner and get the house settled. She has helped sculpt me into the woman I am today and I only hope I can make her as proud as she has made me!
I ask you to help. Open up your hearts and your wallets and give what you can to this cause that takes so many lives and causes patients and Caregivers so much heartbreak. No amount is too little!
Oh and come out and walk! If you want to join our team, let me know and we'd love to have you!
