Hello Friends and Family!!
As many of you know, I have recently been initiated into the Beta Tau chapter of Sigma Kappa at the University of Florida. There has been so much joy and happiness brought to my life from this chapter, and I cannot wait to become involved in our philanthropic event!!
Through Alzheimer’s disease and gerontology-related research grants from the Sigma Kappa Foundation, Sigma Kappa has become one of the nation’s leading private contributors to Alzheimer’s disease prevention, research and treatment efforts. Since 1989, the Sigma Kappa Foundation has granted more than $3 million in research grants including the lead gift of $1 million for the Women's Alzheimer’s Research Initiative. The gift funds clinical research focused on women, as well as studies led by female researchers who are working to advance Alzheimer's and dementia science.
I have had multiple personal experiences with this disease. Two years ago, I lost my Grandpa Jim to Parkinson's disease combined with dementia towards the end of his life. Family friends of mine have also been impacted through the diagnosis of relatives, Carol Kettlestrings and Eileen Mayer. In honor of them and their continuous fight, I will be participating in the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimers on October 20th. Through our involvement in this event, we will be contributing to the current research being done on Alzheimers and be one step closer to developing a cure!
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
