Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. So are we.

Granny was a knitter and a sewer. She would start knitting mittens in the high heat of the summer in order to donate hundreds of pairs throughout the winter. She was also a Halloween costumer maker extraordinaire. As a five year old I asked to be a lobster and did she deliver! I was Lobster Libby, complete with giant lobster claws. Other requests from the grandchildren included a penguin, a starfish, a crayon, a ragdoll. Any oddball request would be fulfilled, no matter how wacky it seemed – I mean really what five year old wants to be a lobster? Granny also made everyone pajamas and bathrobes for Christmas. We all still wish we had one last bathrobe from her (or at least one that fits me as an adult and not as a kid). As her sewing requests expanded, the House of Wanda was created. She would sew little House of Wanda labels into the collars and thus we honor this with our team name.
This disease stole time, memories we could have had and the twinkle out of her eyes. It stole her ability to see weddings, great grandchildren, and watch us all continue to grow up. It stole so many things but this disease cannot steal the time we had together and the love that we had for her. Please help us combat this disease by donating to our team’s fundraising campaign.
Please help us raise funds for Alzheimer's research and honor our Granny, Wanda.
