We are kicking off our fundraising for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Denver. This is the 4th year we are doing the walk and you have been very generous with your time and money in the past. Unfortunately, we are no closer to finding a disease and it is the only major disease without a prevention, treatment or cure. The walk is on Saturday, September 15th at 9 a.m. in City Park. The walk takes about an hour and there will be plenty of entertainment. After the walk, we are hosting a lunch at our house for the Crew. If you can't come in person, please consider a donation. Any amount helps. It all adds up.
In the past year, I have joined the Board of Directors with the Alz Association and also took on the role of Executive Chair for the Denver Walk. Through volunteering, I have really gotten to see first-hand the impact of your donations. We just funded $1.1M out of our Denver office to 7 projects that are studying early detection and prevention science. Truly amazing work. If you donate to the walk or join our crew to walk, I will be anxious to find out your connection to the disease and understand the impact it has had on your life. Below is why I walk.
Why do I do the Walk?
As you may know, my dad (pictured below on Father’s Day) has had Alzheimer’s for the last 12 years. I have gotten to see the effect first hand on family and friends, and it is not an easy journey for anyone. The biggest thing any of us can ask for is support and understanding. Also, I believe awareness is very critical. My family has found a great support network from the Alz Association on our journey. But, this disease is on the rise and not everyone will find what we did, or may not even know where to look for help. 1 in 3 seniors will die from Alz or another dementia-related illness. Let’s work on creating awareness and ending this horrible disease
What does a donation do?
With a donation, you can help the Alzheimer’s Association® continue to provide care and support to the more than five million Americans with Alzheimer’s and their over 15 million caregivers. Your generosity would also help to advance the research that will one day lead us to methods of prevention, treatment and, ultimately, a cure for the disease. Every dollar counts in this fight. Can I count on you? Thanks for your support and spread the word.
