I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Our sweet Judy enjoys life. She enjoys many activities but unfortunately she is afflicted with Alzheimer's. While physically she is in good shape, her mind continues to decline. Remembering what she did earlier in the day is difficult. Her love for reading is gone. Her speech is affected. But she still has a heart for others. She helps those in need in her living facility. She enjoys singing along or moving her hands with the special music that is provided often where she lives or at church. Alzheimer's robs you of so much but Judy has not been robbed of simple joys for which we are thankful. As family members, it is hard to watch her become the shell of the person that she was but yet thankful that she finds pleasure in simple things. Alzheimer's is a hard disease. We are honored that we can walk with Judy in the Walk this year. We will enjoy each moment we have with her!
Please help us fight Alzheimer's and find a cure!
