Team ALZ in for Dottie is walking again this year to raise money for research and to find a cure for this terrible disease!
We are seeing first hand how this disease slowly but progressively robs it's victims of their quality of life.
Before Alzheimer's Dottie loved to get out and walk daily. Visiting with friends around town as she took her walks brought her tremendous joy.
Today she isn't able to get out and walk on her own. Short walks around her apartment complex is about all she can do.
Daily activities like preparing meals, doing laundry, paying bills, grocery shopping are all things that she is no longer able to do on her own. She now has the assistance of a caregiver a couple of days a week to help her with cooking, shopping, and housekeeping. Remembering to eat has become a challenge.
Alzheimer's is relentlessly robbing Dottie of her quality of life. This is the story for thousands of people! Too many people!!
As her family and support team, we have decided to honor her and her journey by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Team ALZ in for Dottie is walking in honor of Dottie McCoey and all of the other people who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's or Dementia. The more you talk about your journey with others, the more you realize how many families are on the same journey. Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. We hope you will join efforts by making a donation to our team or joining our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
