Team YomamaCare continues to walk in support of Sharon Lucas and the millions of others dying from Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias. In addition we walk to honor the loved ones we have lost to dementias. We also walk in support of caregivers. Sharon was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer's Disease over 8 years ago and has been living in a dementia-specific residential care facility for over 6 years. She lost the ability to speak and her muscle tone has stiffened, signaling the final stages of decline. She has retreated into a solitary world. She cannot participate in the group activities at the care facility because she does not understand them. She has no idea who any of her family and old friends are. She is emotionless. She was admitted to hospice care in August.
Members of Team YomamaCare started walking in 2011, and throughout our first seven years we were able to raise a cumulative total of more than $175,000. Please consider joining our passionate team and walking with us on October 12th as we continue to raise critical funds for the advancement of research to treat and prevent Alzheimer's, and for programs to improve the lives of millions of affected Americans.
