Alzheimer's is a word we were familiar with prior to diagnosis, but John and I didn't realize that at 51 years old this could become our greatest life challenge. In a matter of months our entire way of thinking about life changed dramatically. We plan to live joyfully with every moment, but we know there will be a difficult end to our ,thus far, 36 year love story. We are lucky to have an amazing support system that includes family and friends and our Alzheimer's support group that provides a perspective like no other. Although it's a long shot for anything to help John deal with this disease we will do all we can to support the future generations with this challenge.
We leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
