Hi Guys! Thank you so much to those of you who have donated to this great cause. Thank you to my friends who have said they will walk by my side this year. My Dad’s vasucular dementia has progressed, and he is now battling the original disease plus the new diagnosis of Alzheimer’s (which we suspected was on the way). If you knew my Dad, you know what an incredible heart and soul he has. To watch this disease steal his memories, his abilities, his independence, his joy for life, his self care skills, his passions, his ability to reach out and touch anyone he met on a real and deep level, has literally caused a death inside of me. If you know me, you know how much my relationship with my Dad means to both of us. It’s hard to even know if I should write and speak in past or present tense when it comes to this disease. The horrific nature of how it rips those we love away from us, but keeps them in site is so devastating. Your donation to my walk this year means so much, your commitment to walk beside me means so much, your prayers and loving thoughts for my family mean so much... Reach out and touch those you love today. Laugh with them. Talk about your memories together. Help me bring awareness to this horrific disease that I had no real, personal understanding of until about 5 years ago. ❤
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
