I became a grandparent last October 3. This made great-grandparents of my parents. My mother, however, did not and will not meet Jayden. Marilyn Price, who would have turned only 67 on October 29, died in July 2016 at age 64. Her official cause of death was frontotemporal dementia. That's really just medical speak for what most of us know as Alzheimer's disease.
Stopping this disease, which previously consumed my great aunt Doris and my grandmother Mable, has become my life's cause. I'm in my second year volunteering with the planning committee for this year's Sacramento Walk to End Alzheimer's, which is Saturday, September 28, at Raley Field. This is my fourth Walk; barring something miraculous, it unfortunately will not be my last. But together we can run out the clock on this malady by 2025, which is the Alzheimer's Association's goal. Our goal. Please join me by clicking the link and making a donation to my cause to help us advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure. If you're local to Sacramento, consider joining us for the Sacramento walk; if you're not, find a walk near you and sign up. Let's #EndALZ by 2025.
Thank you and much love.
