My name is Ailey Foster and I have been the Community Relations Director for Pacifica Senior Living Bakersfield for the past 11 years. I have the pleasure of educating the community on the benefits and quality of life our seniors get in our in a safe loving homelike environment as well as assisting families in educating them on the advantages of assisted living and memory care when living at home is no longer an option due to safety concerns or the care provider is exhausted and cannot provide care to them any longer. I am involved day to day with our residents and witness first hand the effects Alzheimer's Disease has on our memory care residents. It literally robs person of their own being. Unfortunately this disease has now hit home for my family and I. My grandmother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's and my mom is now her primary caregiver. My mother had to move in with my grandmother due to her cognition issues as she was no longer safe in her own home alone. I can honestly say the disease is just as tough on the person as it is the caregiver. I have been involved with The Walk to End Alzheimer's in Bakersfield for the past 5 years serving on the walk committee as well as having a team Pacifica Pride. This year will be different for me on a personal level as I will now also be walking to honor my grandmother Barbara. I will continue to support and walk to fight against Alzheimer's Disease hoping and praying that one day there will be a CURE and we will have all white flowers in our garden!
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
