Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. So are we. Join our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
It's been a year since Brandon and I have walked and volunteered to support the cause and sadly nothing has changed. No cures have been found, there has been no survivors, and we still sit and await patiently as my Dad's health continues to deteriorate.
For any of you that know what this disease does to a family then you know how difficult these last few years have been for mine. I went out to visit my Dad this past October to give my Mother some relieve, and my eyes were opened to the daily reality that she faces. The anger, the sadness, the vulnerability, the loneliness, all of these things are what happens when you care for someone with Alzheimer's. And then there's my Dad, who was once an accomplished Mechanical Engineer, now needs help with the most basic tasks and to be reminded of things he used to recall in a blink of an eye.
To put it bluntly, this disease is not something you would wish upon your worst enemy. It is a slow death and it has been the most difficult thing to endure with my family. I hope that with your contributions, we can get one step closer to finding a cure, one step closer to having our first survivor.
Thank you so much for your generous donation. It means the world to me and I am forever grateful.
