A message from the Owner of WAX Hair Removal Bar:
I grew up an only child. Sometimes even a lonely child; especially after my father passed away when I was 15 years old. My mother became my closest friend, an immigrant to this country at the age of 30; she was stubborn, very hard working and the life of any party she joined. I learned from her by example. She taught me to be strong, independent and always laugh. She IS my world and I WAS hers.
She’s now at the young age of 73 and changing. Her mind is deteriorating in front of my eyes. My once strong independent mentor is now consumed by a world filled with her plastic baby doll and endless coloring books. She seems lost like a child confused by her familiar surroundings. Dementia was her diagnoses with no known cure. I had to accept that she was never going to be the woman I once strived to become, the woman who IS my world, a woman who is now in her own world.
Being that there is currently no cure for Dementia and or Alzheimer’s as of yet, means we all need to pitch in and aid research in the quest to cure these dreadful diseases. We at WAX have joined forces with the Alzheimer's Association in raising money for the research of Alzheimer’s and Dementia and in hopes of raising awareness. There is still so much unknown about these diseases and without that knowledge, a cure can’t be discovered.
Many of our clients, partners and friends have seen Mary in our WAX stores, she is usually sitting in the waiting area waiting for me, her daughter to finish work. She will usually break out into a song, hug our customers or simply speak in her first language, Polish to clients checking out. Thank you to all of you that have been so understanding and kind towards her during this difficult time for all of us.
