My Mom is at a Brookdale personal care facility in Georgia near my oldest brother, who is her primary caregiver. He moved her after my Dad passed two years ago (my parents were living in Florida).
She just turned 89 last week. Our other brother, who lives in New Jersey, and I alternate visits about every 2 months.
Mom's short-term memory (present and recent past) is lost; "conversations" are really just her jumping between fragments of miscellaneous topics. Using photos works well to draw out old stories, but she is more frequently agitated which is likely caused by being scared.
Thank you, and may God bless you, for donating for the care and support of those on the journey, and for research to find a cure for this awful disease of Alzheimer's and other dementias.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
