My family has owned Norton's Florist for 17 years. For 14 of those years, my mom, Debby worked alongside my dad, Gus in our family business. I joined the business 4 years ago in time to spend 6 months working alongside both of them.
For the past 8 years, Debby has been courageously fighting Alzheimer's disease. She continued to work at Norton's, where she was watched over, cared for and loved by every employee of our business. She helped in processing flowers, greeting customers, and taste-testing any new gourmet items :).
In 2016, we made the difficult decision to move mom to a local memory care facility where she can receive the care that she needs. My mom has always made people around her laugh with her feisty remarks and fun-loving attitude.
This September, in honor of my mother, and all of the other individuals around the world fighting this disease, Norton's Florist, and our employees are joining with the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research.
