In 2013, after several years of family and friends noticing subtle changes, my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. The diagnosis had a devastating effect on myself, my mother, and my sister. Suddenly we were faced with questions that no one had any answers too and a need to create as many memories as we could. We felt isolated and alone as many friends and family didn't know how to react to the news or our grief.
In 2014, I created Donnie's Darlings, an Alzheimer's fund raising team. My dad is a father to 2 beautiful daughters, five loving nieces, and 1 beautiful granddaughter. We raised money for the Longest Day and exceed my goal of $600. In total, with the help of many of you, we raised over $1800! Much of that money went to research and support of families living with this disease. Alzheimer's is one of the leading causes of death in this nation and is the only one in the top 10 of diseases with no cure, treatment, or prevention.
In 2015, we joined the Walk to End Alzheimer's and met our goal of $2000 because friends and family chose to support our journey!
Please join me on Oct 19th 2019 to Walk to End Alzheimer's by walking with us or donating so that no daughter or son ever has to watch their father or mother slowly fade away and fear for their own future with this horrible disease.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
