A few years before coming to Lawton, I worked at a long-term care facility in Kewaunee, WI which included an Alzheimer's wing. While I found the experience to be very rewarding, I also saw the impact the disease has not only had on those who have been diagnosed, but their families, and other caregivers. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
As I work to raise money to help put an end to Alzheimer's, know that every dollar raised at the Walk to End Alzheimer's-Southwest Oklahoma benefits OUR community. I'm hoping you and your friends, family and co-workers would like to join me on the walk as a team or help out by making a donation to advance the care support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association!
