As you may know, my mother, Edith Fong, has had Alzheimer's (one of 50 types of dementia) for the last couple of years. We are thankful it is mild at this point. For those of you who don’t know, she is no longer able to live on her own, due to this disease. We are thankful to our friends and family, the Asian Community Center, The Commons in Elk Grove and ApexCare Sacramento for their help.
Alzheimer’s is a debilitating disease. Right now, the only good recommendations are to have more social interaction and cardiovascular activity. There is NO cure right now.
Every time I mention my situation to friends and family, they mention that they also know someone who is suffering from Alzheimer's or another form of dementia. We have to do something to stop this disease! Please reach out to me if you need any local resources.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
