I have been a part of the RivAlz organization since 2019. This year I have joined the leadership team as Social Chair for the Brunettes and am loving every minute of serving this team.
I joined this organization because my great grandfather, John Luby aka pop-pop, was diagnosed with Dementia in 2015. Upon that diagnosis I had a conversation with my father in which I found out another member of my family had passed away from Alzheimer's when I was much younger, my Paw Newton. It is for these men and those who cared for them that I fundraise and play .
This disease takes away that which is most precious to us, our memories. I watched my pop-pop slowly lose his memory and independence and if fundraising and playing in this game to EndAlz helps even one family not have to go through that it will have been worth the work we put in on and off the feild.
Please support my participation in RivALZ to EndAlz. We may be opponents on the field, but when it comes to Alzheimer’s, we’re all on the same side. This is a disease that must be defeated and we need your help to do it. Your donation will advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
