Why I Ride: My Aunt Mart was one of my favorite people in the whole world growing up. I was always excited to see her as she was so much fun. Mary was a teacher for many years, and she was always sharing things with us about everything.
A few years ago, Mary's health started declining, and our family started learning more about dementia and Alzheimer's. I miss the times we spent together and wish there were many more opportunities to get to know her better, but that is no longer possible. Mary suffered the effects of dementia for the last few years of her life. Her husband Jon stood by her side through it all-an amazing caregiver that allowed her the best life she could have under the circumstances.
Now I am doing my part to raise money for more research to help find a better way of life for people with Alzheimer's and the caregivers who give their all. I am riding in the Ride to End ALZ in Colorado in June (3rd time) and a new ride in Minnesota, as well as doing online challenge rides in the summer.
I was so impressed when I joined my first ride online during COVID that I joined the committee and started a national team, Team Purple, as a team for anyone who wants to ride but does not have a team to join.
Please consider donating to my ride, volunteering, or joining the ride or a committee today. 100% of the donations raised go to Alzheimer's research. help us raise funds to provide the scientists and researchers to do what they do--new findings are announced frequently.
Help me pedal our way to the first Alzheimer's survivor.
Cheer Me On!
