Welcome and thank you for taking a minute to "cycle" through my page.
My name is William (DJ) Rigby and I am honored to represent my Aunt Irene Ewasko in the 2025 Ride to End Alzheimer's event in the Nation's Capital.
I chose to partake in this event as a way to both raise awareness for Alzheimer's as well as contribute/support ongoing research to end Alzheimer's. In the past I have been involved and participated in charitable events such as the Special Olympics and Wounded Warriors, but the Ride to End Alzheimer's will be my first event in honor of someone close to me.
Backstory:
My Aunt Irene was affected by Alzheimer's when I was just a teenager. I truly didn't understand how Alzheimer's changes your life or the lives of those around you. It wasn't until many years later when I was in college studying Psychology that I decided for a thesis project to study Alzheimer's remembering my Aunt Irene from when I was a teenager. Needless to say my eyes were opened up and I understood and recognized so many things about my Aunt and how Alzheimer's changed not only her life, but the lives of those beside her.
Alzheimer's truly changes not only the person, but the loved ones beside them. This is the main reason for my profile picture. The picture is of my Uncle John (Bussie) Ewasko sitting beside my Aunt Irene Ewasko. My Uncle Bussie was beside her until the very end.

This is why I have decided and pledge to ride 100 miles through Leesburg, Virginia in honor of my Aunt Irene, but I also want to remember those family, friends, and loved ones like my Uncle Bussie who sit beside so many with Alzheimer's.
How Can You Help:
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research, only funding. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating in the Ride to End Alzheimer's, a fully-supported, premier cycling event that supports the Alzheimer's Association's efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's disease. With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer's.
Thank you for cheering me on, for your support, and donation!
Respectfully,
DJR
