Why WE Rode: to honor my mother Margaret Fonvielle Heyward, “Mimi”. Mimi graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill Law School during World War II and was a trailblazer her whole life. She lived well into her nineties enjoying a blessed life with friends and family but the last year was challenging due to the onset of Dementia.
I am inspired by the strength of the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and the over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care, and the unwavering determination of the doctors and scientists who work to find the cure.
