This year 2024, I am a Ride to End Alzheimer's Ambassador. I don't take this lightly it is an exciting challenge to recruit more riders, retain prior riders and help prepare them for this year's ride.
Why I Ride: This ride is personal. It means something to me. I ride to get a neat jersey or to have a fun day riding with other people. Granted, that is a benefit. I do this because both of my wife's parents suffered from this disease. It's a horrible disease. There is a lot of misconceptions about it and it doesn't get the attention as some other diseases that impact younger people. However, I also had a coworker whose wife got Alzheimer's Disease in her early 50's. That is way too young.
The Alzheimer's Association is involved with the science and research. I am now determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer’s. I am inspired by the strength of the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and the over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care including two close family members who suffered greatly from this insidious disease.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ, a fully-supported, one day fundraising event where every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease. They are getting closer to a cure, and there are some promising trials in progress.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
