This year I supported the cause in spirit and by logging a few miles on Bikeshare ebikes at the end of the month.
The guts, endless determination while working with crews of volunteers, in getting through this ride is akin to what is needed to follow through on care and treatment of loved ones with dementia, Alzheimers, indeed all chronic illnesses that make one dependent on others to get things done.
We live in an interconnected world where we cannot survive without some level of co-dependency. When we are young and healthy, and our bodies and minds are well conditioned, well, then it is sometimes easy to forget how much we need each other. The teamwork it takes to put on and carry through this event is good preparation for the tough times that may or may not be part of our future.
Congrats to all who made it through and blessings on all who helped make this happen. We pray for a cure, and if no cure is available for all ills, I pray for strength and health to Ride on!
Cheer Me On!
