Starting July 14th, I'll once again be participating in the Ride to End ALZ South Carolina. It is a unique 255-mile journey for cycling enthusiasts who are passionate about ending Alzheimer's disease. Ordinarily the 3-day ride crosses the state of South Carolina (from Simpsonville to Charleston), but because I spend summers in Upstate New York, I will once again be completing the ride virtually like several other displaced South Carolinians. I am a member of the Patriot Pedalers, a team sponsored by Patriot Hospice of South Carolina headquartered in Greenville (hence the large "P" on my jersey). Our mission is to raise the funds needed for the research, care and support efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
We all know someone who has been affected by this terrible disease. I ride because I am inspired by the strength of the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care. I want to help speed up scientific progress toward better treatments and prevention. I am dedicating this year's ride to honor a wonderful Summerset Bay neighbor and long-time friend, Marj Sartori.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research — only dollars. That's why I am asking for your support.
By participating in Ride to End ALZ South Carolina, I'm fueling support services and cutting-edge research to change the trajectory of Alzheimer's disease. Each dollar I raise helps advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer's and provide help for those facing dementia today.
Will you join me? Thank you for donating and cheering me on!
