This July, I'll be participating in Ride to End ALZ South Carolina, a three-day, 255 mile cross-state cycling journey. I am determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer’s. Our mission is to raise the funds needed for the research, care and support efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
I am riding to honor my Father-In-Law, Thomas J. Smalley, who was afflicted with this heinous disease in the prime of his golden years. He was a thoughtful and generous man, husband, and father, as well as an avid cyclist who once rode a century ride on his beach cruiser. It is particularly appropriate that I am riding in his memory. His extremely kind brother, Mike, was similarly afflicted, as were my uncle Dr. Al and sweet Aunt Audrey Goren, and my maternal grandmother, Ms. Alberta Riddell. Finally, the sweet and humble Ms. Franny Winiarski was also taken by this atrocious disease just this year. This disease SUCKS.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Will you join me by making a donation today? With each mile I ride and every dollar raised, I am confident we will get closer and closer to more treatments and ultimately finding that first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
Cheer Me On!
