Greetings!
I was lucky to have a great Mom. When I was young she tucked me in at night and said a prayer with me. She always made me breakfast and sent me off to school with a full lunchbox. She challenged me to do my homework and cheered me on in sports. She helped me gain the foundation and life skills I needed to fulfill my dream of becoming a pilot. Mom did the everyday hard work of building a healthy family as a model for my life. Sixteen years ago, my Dad began to struggle with Alzheimers. Mom was at his side, patiently serving him as his capabilities diminished, never complaining. She with him when he passed away 7 years ago, after 65 years of marriage.
After Dad's passing, Mom began her struggle with Alzheimers. Today, she is in a memory care home a few minutes away. When I visit, she always has a cheerful smile and lifts the spirits of those around her.
Three years ago, a fellow Delta Pilot, Tague Harding, whose family has also been impacted by Alzheimers, invited me to an annual effort to raise money for research for a cure for Alzheimers.
This summer will be my third year riding and our team is growing!
Over the last couple years as I have invited my friends / coworkers to participate in my Ride to End Alzheimers, it has surprised me how many people are impacted by Alzheimers.
Please cheer us on, and if you are inclined please donate with vigor!
I have been impressed by how efficient the Alzheimer’s Association is using donations to go directly to research for a cure.
